Tommie Lee Hearn, 93, of Sandusky, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday morning, December 17, 2019 in Firelands Regional Medical Center.
He was born on June 4, 1926 in Hayti, Missouri to Trave & Martha (Pearson) Hearn. At an early age, Tommie accepted Christ and attended Morning Star Baptist Church. He also became interested in auto mechanics after learning to repair tractors and automobiles. Tommie married Ruby Hearn in 1952 and they had 12 children. They moved to Sandusky in 1961.
He owned and operated Tommie Hearn Auto Repair and Towing Service. He also founded the Tommie Hearn Auto Repair Club, with over 100 members paying dues. He worked at G & C Foundry as a maintenance technician for over 20 years. He later retired and continued his auto repair business until his health declined.
Tommie leaves to treasure his memory his sons, Nathaniel, Kenny, and Kiniyuna, all of Sandusky, Mark (Yolanda), of Columbus, Ohio; daughters, Martha Straughter, of Missouri, Carolyn and Marquieta, both of Maryland, Betty (David), of North Carolina, Karen, of Columbus, Ohio, and Dianna, of Sandusky; sister-in-law, Dorothy Herron, of Illinois; 30 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby (Johnson); parents, Trave & Martha (Pearson); sisters, Jimmy Lee, Delphi Ann, Susie B., and Eddie Mae (Berry); sons, Tommie, Jr. and Fredric; and daughters, Patricia and Shella.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. on Monday, December 30, 2019 until funeral services begin at 11 a.m. in Agape Love Ministries, 4013 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Bishop Clifton T. Jones, Sr. will officiate. Burial will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
