Harold E. Yeager, 94, Castalia, died Wednesday, December 27, 2017, in Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky.
He was born on April 13, 1923 in Huron, OH, to the late Frank and Helena (Bechtel) Yeager.
Harold was employed by Apex, Bechtel-McLaughlin, and retired from New Departure Hyatt after 20 years.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Sandusky, loved fishing and boating with his family, NASCAR fan of Dale Earnhardt Sr., Dale Earnhardt Jr., and Jeff Gordon, loved the New England Patriots, and Ohio State Buckeyes, and spent many hours with his wife visiting friends at the Jackson St. Pier.
Harold met Lois J. Baaske, his wife, at Ward’s Roller Skating Rink in Sandusky, when they decided to hang up their skates and started racing go-karts at area tracks. They were together 72 years, married August 4, 1945.
He is survived by his wife, Lois; son, Bill (Carolyn) Yeager; grandsons, Scott (Gretchen) Yeager, Tim (Robin) Yeager, and Bill (Jessi) Yeager; great-grandchildren, Karley, Blake, Cade, Cole, Hannah, Zachary, and Garrett; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Alvin, Frank, Russel, Richard, and Lawrence; sisters, Viola, Florence, and Mildred.
Per Harold’s wishes cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or services. Private family services will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made in Harold’s name to Stein Hospice Service, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, or to Margaretta Fire and Rescue Dept. P.O. Box 567, Castalia, OH, 44824.
